NGC 6744 (also known as the Pavo galaxy) is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Pavo. This galaxy - discovered by James Dunlop - is one of the largest spiral galaxies and is considered to be a mimic of our Milky Way. The distorted companion galaxy (on the top) is called NGC 6744A and is very similar to the Magellanic Clouds.
